What is the cost of Lutron Shades?

The cost of a Lutron shade is related to the size of the shade. For reference, a Serena Roller Shade that is 60” by 60” has a retail price of $1130 + tax. The same shade at 96” by 96” has a retail price of $1555 + tax.

Is Lutron a Chinese company?

Definitely not! Lutron is 100% privately held and family owned by the Spira family. Based in the USA with manufacturing also in the USA or Mexico.

How long will my batteries last for?

A 60” x 60” roller shade (which uses 8 D cell Alkaline batteries), has a typical battery life expectancy of 4.9 years, based on x2 usage a day. Certain shades may have the option of employing the Battery Boost technology – which increases battery capacity to 16 D Cells. Please see Lutron guide to optimizing battery life here

Where are Lutron Shades manufactured?

Lutron shades are manufactured either in Mexico or the USA.

Can Lutron shades be hardwired?

All Lutron shades have the capability to be hardwired. But not all shades are able to be battery operated. Please enquire for more specifics on wire gauge / electrical specs.

What are the disadvantages of Lutron?

The main disadvantage of Lutron is their price. They are expensive and can cost upwards of $1000 per unit. However, we have not had one customer return to us and say they have regretted their purchase.

What is the lead time for Lutron shades?

Typical lead times are 4-6 weeks from when the order is placed into production. The lead time does vary from fabric to fabric. It is possible to expedite an order but expect to pay an extra fee to get this service.

Is Lutron better than Hunter Douglas?

If we are referring to technology as the metric, Lutron is definitely better than Hunter Douglas. If we are referring to product / fabric offerings, then Hunter Douglas has the edge there. Lutron definitely beats Hunter Douglas in overall user experience and performance, but Hunter Douglas does have their own proprietary products that Lutron does not offer.

Does Home Depot sell Lutron shades?

Home Depot used to sell Lutron Serena Shades but that is no longer the case. Serena Shades can still be purchased on the official Lutron website, but come see Shade Works for the best pricing, guaranteed.

Is Lutron worth it?

That is up to you! Some people cannot fathom spending thousands of dollars on shades, but others spend that amount in the blink of an eye once they have experienced Lutron shades.
